Saturday night is a showcase of some of the finest Devon-connected artists. Arrive in good time - with fantastic music right from the start!

Sculpture Music

Sculpture Music are a unique contemporary jazz/world fusion trio from Exeter consisting of Matt Calder (Hang Drum, Halo, Guitars, Electronica, Hammer Dulcimer, Vocals) and for this show the much-in-demand local bassist Lukas Drinkwater with Tom Rosenbloom on drums.

Matt is a familiar face on the local music scene being the main man behind BalconyTV (Exeter) but also a seasoned songwriter and musician dating back to the late 70s scene. The band formed out of Matt's love of the Hang Drum and Halo and the trance-like sonics of these unique instruments. Sculpture Music were selected for the Emerging Talent Award by Glastonbury Festival 2015 with two dates booked for this year's Glastofest.  Arrive in good time to enjoy this multi-sensory sonic experience!

Circumnavigate

Really excited about this band from Oslo/London (via Devon). They are a big favourite of BBC Introducing (Devon) – the county where Ross the drummer, spent his formative years.

Circumnavigate produce a cinematic sound which could only be conjured in the Nordic landscapes of such pristine beauty. Gorgeous harmonies led by Sigrid Zeiner-Gundersen, float delicately amidst their warm orchestral arrangements influenced by jazz, pop and folk…

“Their music drifts you away and glazes listeners into a musical haze as though they are viewing the beauty of the northern lights without seeing them.” (Music Week)

CaveMouth

Exeter-based CaveMouth play a unique blend of blues, funk and hip-hop with African-influenced tuneage and mind-altering lyrics.

With influences as diverse as Prince, Jack White, Kate Bush and Busta Rhymes, they combine feral guitar, filthy sax, funk infused bass and narcotic drum beats to create a sound that is deliciously gritty, edgy and exciting. They call it ‘Swamp Funk’ – but whatever it is – it affects a primeval stirring from deep within the soul and a mysterious compulsion to dance...

Jonah Hitchens

& The Superband

Jonah Hitchens & the Superband are an exciting high-energy collaboration of Exeter-based bands and musicians who join forces whenever they can to form a big 8-piece 'Superband'. They clearly love playing together with plenty of enthusiasm and improv – producing an intoxicating mix of original and vintage Blues/Funk/Soul/ and R'nB'. With infectious groove laden rhythms, punchy brass and horn section, strong vocal lead and supporting harmonies – this group of talented young musicians are an exciting live spectacle...
