Sessions commence 7.15pm

Off to a flying start with a menu of mouth-watering virtuosos of both guitar and piano plus melodic and crowd-pleasing bands to kick off this years Fringe. Featuring the astonishing percussive guitar talents of Chris Woods Groove Orchestra, the jaw-dropping boogie-woogie piano of Henri Herbert, the gorgeous melodic sounds of Boat to Row and thigh-slapping Cornish Alt-Bluegrass band The Flats & Sharps.  Arrive in good time - with fantastic music right from the start!

Chris Woods Groove Orchestra

We've managed to persuade percussive guitar maestro Chris Woods Groove and his Tabla drummer Harkiret Singh Bahra to come and play for us on the opening night at the Fringe - setting the bar very high early doors... A UK based instrumental phenomenon - Chris Woods has a reputation for pushing the boundaries of his instrument to the very limit - using every inch of his guitar to blend ear-bending grooves with an astonishing array of percussive sounds and rhythms. Expect to see jaws dropping around the room... Professional sponsors include Martin & Co Guitars and Elixir Strings.

Henri Herbert

French-born Henri John Pierre Herbert is a piano playing phenomenon. Born in France, he was at an early age drawn to the piano-pounding pioneers Jerry Lee Lewis and Albert Ammons. He spent many hours studying their styles and making them into something all his own. He cut his musical teeth playing in pubs, clubs and bars all over Europe before joining the mighty Jim Jones Revue in 2011. When the band split in 2014 and Henri, greatly encouraged by the 8M + views on Youtube of him playing an original boogie woogie composition, decided to pursue his own solo performances and songwriting. Henri is officially endorsed by Roland Pianos.

Boat to Row

We are very excited that the wonderful sweet-sounding quintet Boat To Row will be joining us this summer! This group of friends from the Midlands combine with obvious ease to produce the most beautifully melodic sound. Expect sweet vocal harmonies, honeyed strings, and an impressive assortment of instruments which are exquisitely interwoven to create something that’s a bit special...

Flats & Sharps

The fabulous Flats and Sharps will be making a triumphant return to the Fringe Sessions. These lively young Cornish alt-Bluegrass boys played the Fringe a couple of years ago and received big love by all! They have recently grown from 4 to a 5 piece band with the addition of a violin to create an even more joyful sound! Guaranteed to get thighs-a-slapping and bring a smile to your face these lads are a very popular live act with a rapidly increasing band of followers. Sure to end the Saturday night Sessions on a big high!
