Sunday 1 August

Sessions commence at 7.00pm

Arrive in good time - with fantastic music right from the start!

Rue at Fringe.jpeg

RUE (Slot 1)

Great to have Cornish-based singer songwriter Rue and her band back at the Fringe.

With comparisons to Erykah Badu and already a big online following, Rue draws upon influences from soul, jazz, RnB and pop — resulting in a chilled sound that sits alone in it’s own right.

Following her successful debut EP, Rue has gained the support of BBC Introducing, performed at some major festivals and supported major artists such as Martha Reeves and Newton Faulkner.

Arrive in good time to see one of the region's brightest stars of the jazz scene.

Winter Mountain (Slot 2)

Cornish singer / songwriter Joe Francis is Winter Mountain.

With support slots for pop icon Seal, Elbow frontman Guy Garvey, Richard Thompson and The Feeling under his belt its safe to say its been an extraordinary 18 months for Winter Mountain.

The Winter Mountain sound is a blend of melodic songs, an extraordinarily soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, reminiscent of a time before digital recording when the emphasis fell on the importance of live performance and the essence of the songs.

“Francis is not only carrying on a tradition ventured by such legends as Springsteen, Petty and Neil Young but developing certain aspects as he ventures alongthe road, marrying his fine song writing to his ability to seamlessly harness his energy“.

Firewoodisland (Slot 3)

“Songs that immediately evoke a full-body chill in the first few opening bars.”
– Wonderland. Magazine

Lovely to welcome back Firewoodisland to the Fringe for their third visit!

We love their invigorating fresh sound and intuitive harmonies... Firewoodisland is the alias of Bristol based Norwegian/Welsh multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Stian Vedøy and Abi Eleri. Emotive and dynamic vocal harmonies together with the morphing of organic and digital instruments, create their atmospheric and invigorating soundscapes.

Haunt the Woods (Slot 4)

We love these guys and its great to have the increasingly hairy HTW boys back at the Fringe!

Haunt the Woods are an exciting 4 pce band from the Cornish/Devon boarders blending alt prog rock, folk and pop - their sound is a mix of soaring vocals, beautiful melodies and spellbinding guitar.

Think Pink Floyd, Muse, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead.

We thought they were a bit special when they played back in 2016 but now on their second album they just keep getting better and better.

Expect epic crescendos and heartfelt lyrics in an extremely powerful and visceral live performance.
