Sunday 2nd Aug
Sessions commence 7.15pm
An evening of some of the very finest emerging Westcountry artist's with a distinct folk roots flavour. Featuring the dynamic and emotionally-charged Tobias ben Jacob; the gorgeous 3-part harmonies of BBC 2 Folk award nominees Wildwood Kin; the spontaneous and passionate songs of Jess McAllister; and the deep earthy sounds of Echo Town...
Really excited alt/folk/ Singer-Songwriter Tobias ben Jacob will be returning to the Fringe. Tobias is a firm Fringe Favourite but has also been recently lauded by BBC 6's Tom Robinson and has seen airplay for his single 'Burning Low' on national radio including BBC Radio 2, BBC6.
Tobias’ live show is a dynamic and emotionally charged affair, ranging from high-crystalline falsetto led tracks like ‘We Are The First Ones Now’ to more driving riff-driven earthy numbers like ‘I Breathe In Life.’ Tobias has recently returned from slots at BBC Introducing Devon stage at Somersault and Larmer Tree Festivals.
Wildwood Kin
Delighted to have Exeter indie/folk trio Wildwood Kin back again this summer. They have had a head-spinning year with the release of their EP, nomination for the coveted Radio 2 Folk Awards and headline slot at Somersault Festival on the BBC Introducing in Devon stage. Sisters Emillie and Beth Key and cousin Meghann Loney perform beautifully blended vocal harmonies with acoustic guitar, percussion and unique songwriting. A real treat!
We all rather fell in love with local indie folk singer/songerwriter Jess McAllister and her band of friends following her appearance last year at the the Fringe. She has such a genuinely warm and personal approach to her music which immediately wins over audiences who become a part of the performance. Described as wholesome, passionate and free-spirited; her blend of modern folk music and spontaneous live performance are irresistable.
Chuffed to introduce Echo Town - two brothers, originally from up north, but now embracing Cornish culture - who will be joining us at McBuzz's Barn this summer bringing their big, upbeat sound. Expect earthy lap-slide, stomp box, soaring harmonica, didgeridoo, tight percussion and soulful singing all delivered with great energy and verve...
