Aiden Simpson
Aidan Simpson is a poet-singer and multi-instrumentalist native to West Dorset. His songs express a deep sense of mystery and wonder, intimately tied to the landscape of which he is a part. He has played extensively through this country and others, and has been heard on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 6 Music.
The Gymkhana
Saddle-up for a pastoral folk-indie sonic adventure with The Gymkhana : a 3-piece pastoral, lo-fi, folk-indie collective, featuring Patch from 90s alt rock band The Sundays and Jason Applin from Bennet - who together have ‘accidentally made an album' (Follyfoot 71-73) - with like minded chums (such as members of Slowdive, Gong, Midlake, Mediaeval Baebes, Miranda Sex Garden, Art Brut, Evil Blizzard and Billy Reeves) about the joys and dangers of living a life through the prism of nostalgia which has just launched this month!
“Each song on the album uses the narrative of 1970s children’s TV show Follyfoot as a starting point for off-kilter pop songs. Fuzzy with sepia-tinged melodies about lost childhood summers, field recordings of fetes and medieval parties, and near-prog and post-punk wig outs that threaten to implode like a faulting broadcast of Top of the Pops in 1973”
Jon Fazal
Dead chuffed to have Devon-based singer-songwriter and rising star Jon Fazal join us this summer…
John Fazal is becoming increasingly recognised for his poignant and intimate lyrics paired with infectious melodies.
His music has gained airplay on BBC Radio 2, 6Music, and BBC Introducing and drawn comparisons to Johnny Flynn, Bob Dylan, Ray Davies and Al Stewart.
Jon’s debut album, ‘After Everything’, was recorded live at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, featuring a talented ensemble of musicians. Released in June 2024, the album showcases captivating stories, heartfelt lyrics and exciting musical performances.
Hear the album performed in full (with some surprises) at Sidmouth Fringe!
‘Exquisitely melancholic and full of poetic perceptions.’ BBC Introducing Southwest
